Siege of Krujen
Rumors were heard that someone tried to help Hunyadi during the battle of Kosovo against us, but apparently were not allowed through the territory. This person was Skanderbeg, a military commander, which my father faced before in the battlefield, I wonder what would have happened if his help was let through and joined Hunyadi, maybe history would have been different. One year passed after the Battle of Kosovo and in 1449 Skanderbeg forces took over the fortress of Beret, and the following year my father arrived in Albania, with around 100,000 men leading the siege. Skanderbeg beliefs made him have a vision of victory and angels and that woke up the low morale of his soldiers against us. Such a strong belief turned upside down our battle. Albanians had 100,000 in front of their fortress, their defenses were about 4,000 men. Such a big difference in number made them lose hope and the spirit to defend their pride. But they saw us as a Christian enemy and Skanderbeg himself said he saw angels telling him “Destroy the enemies of the true religion of Christianity,” same as other men claiming similar things, this raised their morale and gave them the energy to defend against our army. My father tried for several months to take down their fortress, but failed several times, Skanderbeg plan was very precise and every time we attacked, they made us get distracted and attacked us, a big number of our men died during these attacks. Winter was coming and my father saw this, so he decided to retreat from Kruje and came back to Edirne, some words came along with his retreat. Some said he died in Kruje in battle, but it was all a lie. My father came back to Edirne that same winter, and the following year, 1451, he unfortunately died and once again I became the sultan leader of the Ottoman empire.
